Part of the Get Curious series at the Science + Industry Museum, this event invites families to learn learn more about the big ideas and innovations that are changing our world today, enjoying fun demonstrations and interactive activities from experts working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Soundscapes and Playable Plants

Dr Neil Bruce, Lecturer in Sound Design (Soundscapes) at SODA will lead a workshop in creating and designing your own soundscape or piece of music – using an iPad to explore how touch and movement interact with sounds. 
 
Get hands on with touch sensors and generate new and interesting music with ‘Playable Plants’ and ‘Magical Musical Mint’. Use contact microphones to discover the sounds created by everyday materials. 
 
Explore the connection between how soundscapes make you feel through colour by listening to sounds and mapping them in colour.

Recommended for ages 7 and older.
