Mark Alexander Porter

I am a Senior Lecturer in Web Design & Coding in SODA and I teach across various degree programmes including Web & User Experience (UX), Digital User Experience and Future Digital Media, from Level 4 upwards. My role focuses on the application of Web Technologies as a function of UX with a focus on accessibility and technical performance.

My skillset as a Web Developer and Creative Technologist includes full-stack web development, Web AR/XR, photography, videography, 3D printing and IOT digital / physical hybrid systems. I am also involved in distributed design and manufacturing as part of the FabLab / Maker movement in the Creative Digital Media space.

I am an experienced HE tutor and mentor, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Institute (Advance HE). I have over a decade’s experience as an external examiner and external adviser for several Creative Media & Web programmes, both UK based and internationally franchised.

My pedagogic interests focus on digital inclusivity and accessibility, using a multi-modal approach in designing course material, feedback and assessment methods. My industry work involves digital innovation and enterprise projects including KTPs and I am part of the Digital Co-operative movement in the region working with SMEs and social enterprises, with a strong focus on local employability.
