Anthony McCormick, BSc (Hons), PGCert

I’m responsible for teaching and supporting students on their journey to becoming games developers. After completing my degree in Computer Games Design, I started out as a Level Designer for Codemasters working on some of the world’s most exciting racing games franchises such as Grid, F1, Dirt and Dirt Rally.

I later moved up the ladder to Experienced Games/Level Designer and worked on the Overlord franchise before completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education to pass on my industry experience and knowledge to the game developers of tomorrow.

I have expertise in games design, level design, website and portfolio design, project management, project development and sound for games. My qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Computer Games Design and PGcert in Higher Education. I’m also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My research interests include games design, simulation, level design, VR games design and sound design for games.

As a passionate gamer, any spare time I have, I spend playing and researching games of all genres across multiple platforms. I am extremely passionate about technology and I am very enthusiastic about working within the virtual reality and virtual production sectors.

I enjoy taking on all types of challenges, including problem solving and doing things I’ve never done before. Over the past two years I have been running, working on and supervising a variety of university student-led FPS/VR projects using the Unreal Engine. When I want to get away from it all, I like to go for road trip into the lakes riding my motorcycle with nothing but the open road in front of me.
