Chris Paul Daniels Senior Lecturer, Filmmaking

Chris Paul Daniels

I’m an Artist and Filmmaker, based in Manchester and make films that respond to place; often merging experimental observation with communal memory and unreliable narration.

I graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2010 and co-won the Deutsche Bank Award for Art with Maria Anastassiou for Unravel, the longest hand painted film in Britain which toured venues including Tate Britain, BFI Southbank, IKON Gallery and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

I’ve regularly shown work internationally and undertaken projects in China, Kenya, Iceland, Sweden and the Netherlands. Some of my recent commissions include SAFE at HOME in Manchester, One Square Mile for Quays Culture and University of Salford Art Collection (with Sam Meech), The Book of Lies at the National Museum of Iceland for Curated Place and Einkofi Productions and Northern Lights, co-commissioned by ICA and The Grundy Art Gallery and acquired by the Grundy Art Gallery/Blackpool Council Collection via The Art Fund.

I am passionate about working closely with students to develop their creative voices and developing unique perspectives into their work; it is always a great privilege to see the films that come out of each project.
