Polly Palmerini Lecturer, Photography

Polly Palmerini

I am a photographic artist and Lecturer in Photography at SODA. An artist and curator, my research focus is on collaborative practice, play in education and visual storytelling.

Recently, I was awarded funding by Manchester International Festival as part of the Manchester Independents for the research project Museum of Half Truths which took place at Contact Theatre in late 2020, involving artists and communities in a collaborative archive response, post-pandemic.

My practice concentrates on materiality, malleability and the performative quality of everyday objects, with an interest in objects found in my surroundings and personal considerations on place. Exploring the never settling relationship in photography between what we see and what we know, by playing with ideas of illusion, myth and non linear narratives.

I was the British Council Artist-in-Residence during the Venice Biennale in 2017 and have recently exhibited at FORMAT Photography Festival 2023.
