Richard Higginbottom Senior Lecturer

Richard Higginbottom

I am a lecturer in Photography at the School of Digital Arts (SODA) and publisher whose practice-based research centres around representations of urban space through photography. I embed experiments in print and bookmaking to disseminate my work.

Within my publishing practice, I recently co-founded Surface Editions, an independent publishing platform specialising in photographic books, print editions and workshop events. I have been an active publisher since 2015, previously founding Tide Press.

My teaching focuses on the relationship between photography and narrativity, using varied pedagogical approaches to encourage experimentation with forward-thinking methods of presentation and the implementation of a range of technologies in relation to bookmaking and photographic publications.

You can find out more about my work on my website.
