Dr Sabah Boustila

I am Dr. Sabah Boustila, a Lecturer in User Experience and Web Design at SODA. I am a unit leader of different units in L4 and L5 including Introduction to UX Theories and Application of UX Web Theories. Additionally, I am a lecturer in Digital Media and Communication program in the iSchool. My duties include also personal tutoring for L4, L5 students and project supervisor for L6 students.

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Strasbourg, France in 2016. I am passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge. I have multiple teaching experiences in a variety of disciplines including Computer Science and User Experience. Previously, I held a Lecturer and Research Assistant position at the University of Strasbourg (2015-2017) and two Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions at the University of Toronto (2018-2020) and University of Strasbourg (2020), respectively.

Throughout my career, my research interests have been on Virtual and Augmented Reality (XR) and 3D interactions. I aim to contribute to research that solves real-world problems. I have addressed issues related to navigation using maps in VR, spatial perception in virtual environments in indoor spaces in the context of building construction, just to name a few.

Currently, I am working on interaction design using smartphone interfaces with VR headsets to solve accessibility issues.

I like discovering new places and cultures; my hobbies include traveling and hiking.
